Heart Attack Potatoes

This dish is a must have at most family gatherings.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup melted butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can of  cream of chicken soup
8 ounces shredded cheese any type I like extra sharp cheddar
1 (8 oz) carton sour cream
1 (32 oz) package shredded frozen hash brown potatoes
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups crushed corn flakes

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously butter a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In a large pan, melt one stick of butter and saute the onions in it for 5 to 10 minutes, until onions are softened. Take pan off burner. Add soup, cheese, and sour cream, mix well. Add frozen hash browns and mix well. Place mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Mix the crushed corn flakes with the second stick of butter.

Sprinkle corn flake butter mixture over the hash brown mixture in pan.

Bake, uncovered, at 350degrees for 1 hour.

  3. There really is no need ot butter the pan with all the butterand cheese I use and I alway's use ALOT more cheese than this :). Onions being sauted onions are optional you can just chop them up small and add them into the mix or leave them out all together. My Cousin also said if you don't have corn flakes you can use potato chip's!

  4. You can also use cream of mushroom or celery soup instead. If my sister and Brother in law were coming I would be making this dish Vegetarian for them :)
